What apps can be added to the Dashboard?

Most of the websites that you access with a password can be added to your Dashboard. However, there are a few possible processes that you might need to follow.

  • First, some apps will just appear on your Dashboard. Those are apps that are being managed at the company level (or, in Okta parlance, they are Enterprise Apps). Generally these are apps that have an integration with Okta and are therefore using more secure methods of access.
  • Second, you can add apps using the process described in the next question. These are apps that are listed in Okta’s App Catalog. You add them while you are logged into your Dashboard and you will be walked through the process of adding them.
  • Third, some apps will prompt you to add them to the Dashboard using the Okta Browser Plugin when you log into them directly in your browser. If you log into website and you are not prompted to save the website to your Dashboard then it probably requires some extra steps during the login process. In those instances try searching the App Catalog; it is possible that Okta has created a login process that will work with the website. A good example of this is logging into Adobe: the two step process that Adobe uses is not recognized by the Okta Browser Plugin so Okta has included Adobe in their App Catalog.
